Portfolio Manager
Christie has spent the past decade helping high net worth investors protect and grow their wealth. Having started her career working in an in vitro fertilization lab in Denver Colorado however, Christie is not your average wealth manager.
She grew up in Brampton, Ontario, completed a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Biomedical Science (MSc) at the University of Guelph, and following her time in Denver, she pursued her drive to continue learning and to broaden her horizons by completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Schulich School of business in Toronto. Her career in finance began in the equity research group at Merrill Lynch Canada before she joined the Venture Capital and Private Equity team at the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan where she invested in early stage biotech and technology companies.
Christie then moved to New York City to work in the Investment Banking group at Morgan Stanley. She was there nearly five years, advising corporate clients on mergers and acquisitions and raising money in the public markets by issuing stocks and bonds to investors.
She joined Cumberland Private Wealth Management Inc. in 2009 as a Portfolio Manager in Toronto to provide discretionary investment management and wealth advisory services to a wide base of high net worth clients. She also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
So, Christie has experienced the markets and wealth management from all angles. She is passionate about financial literacy and is deeply motivated to help people feel more comfortable with their money. As such, she is excited to share insights and practical perspectives through this special series of educational podcasts. She sees no obstacles and believes that if she can do it, so can you.
